Alternative Photographic Processes

May 17 & 18 from 9:30 – 4:00 pm
$220 (members: $205) · $45 materials fee
Learn two alternative photographic processes in one weekend. On the first day explore Cyantoype. Create unique prints that will be enhanced by their beautiful blue tone. You will learn how to mix the chemicals and various exposure methods for this unique and accessible photographic process. On the second day you will learn the Van Dyke printing process. The Van Dyke process developed in the 19th century produces prints that have a soft brown finish. The rich tone gives your prints a rich warm “antique” appearance.

Catching Your Story
Ellouise Schoettler
April 12 from 9:30 – 4:00 pm
$110 (members: $95) · $5 materials fee
Each story has a “back” story of how it came about; what worked; and what didn’t work as the story came to light and developed. How does a setting establish the story? This workshop will teach what questioning techniques work well to keep the story flowing? How you gather additional material or connect with related memories that help you enlarge your story. This is a class for anyone interested in developing a narrative in their art. If you want to create an artist book but you can’t figure out how to develop your story allow master storyteller Ellouise Schoettler to give you the skills to push toward your goals.
