Imar Hutchins’s portraits of figures from African American history contain multitudes, but in this case that phrase refers to experiences as much as chromosomes. The D.C. artist’s “Inheritance,” at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, includes five larger-than-life collage-paintings of such notables as author James Baldwin and surveyor Benjamin Banneker, as well as Lyman T. Hyattsville Arts Festival: Arts and Ales: Open Studios and Free Fun for All on September 21, 2019!

You are invited! Come out next Saturday, September 21 between 12pm and 6pm to enjoy the sights, sounds, and family-fun at the 2019 Downtown Hyattsville Arts Festival: Arts & Ales. Pyramid Atlantic is excited to participate again this year with a jam-packed schedule of free activities, demonstrations, and more. We'll have hands-on activities or demonstrations in all 5 community studios—letterpress, printmaking, book arts, papermaking, and screenprinting–and opportunities to meet some of our teaching artists and learn more about our creative programming for all levels.
