East City Art: Pyramid Atlantic Art Center Presents Amos Paul Kennedy Jr.'s 'Noise on the Wa

"Detroit-based Artist Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. uses letterpress printing and bold type to stir up strong emotions through print. As printer and provocateur, his work asks uncomfortable questions about issues of race, equality, and artistic pretension. The exhibition at Pyramid Atlantic will share nearly 200 of his prints, priced between $10 and $50. The exhibited works are printed primarily on chipboard using wood and metal type. Several oversized prints on maps are also included. A vocal advocate for the democratization of art and design, much of Kennedy’s work is inspired by quotes or proverbs, printed (and over printed) in thick black type on top of wildly layered colors.
