A Virtual Workshop with a Visiting Artist!

Think back to the last time you picked up a movable card. You moved the mechanism back and forth, soothed and satisfied by the movement. You wished there was a collective noun for movable cards. Well, there is! Join seasoned paper engineer Shawn Sheehy in building A SATISFACTION of ten movable mechanisms that demonstrate a wide range of movement possibilities. All you need is a simple set of hand tools, a short stack of materials, and an interest in engaging with technical paper mechanics. And to dial up the satisfaction quotient, you'll bind your collection into a tidy sample book. This class will be technical, and very, very ... satisfying. All levels are encouraged!

The class will meet online via Zoom with the following schedule:

• Thursday, October 29, 6pm-8pm

• Friday, October 30, 6pm-8pm

• Saturday, October 31, 10am-12pm

• Sunday, November 1, 10am-12pm

Registration closes October 19, 2020 to allow time for the safe packaging and shipping of the included materials kit, which includes 15 sheets of 110 lb white stock paper, 10 sheets of 80 lb color stock paper, 2 sheets of 140 stock paper, and 24" of unwaxed linen thread. Students will also need to gather a few additional materials and tools—this list (with helpful links for purchasing) will be sent with your registration confirmation. Any helpful handouts about the process, as well as a quick 1-page "how-to" on downloading and using the Zoom video app will be provided ahead of class.

PLEASE NOTE: All workshops will be recorded for Pyramid Atlantic's private use to better optimize our programming and share as examples for funders. You may mute your microphone or turn off your camera if you do not wish to be recorded.
