In this deep-dive, hands-on workshop, students will learn how to make two make both pulled sheets and the poured sheets of paper with Kozo (mulberry) bast fiber. The pulled sheet is most commonly known as Japanese Papermaking, while the poured sheet as Nepalese Papermaking. Students will also learn how to prepare the raw materials for Eastern papermaking methods, including cleaning and beating fiber, preparing the formation aid, and properly mixing the formation aid in with the fibers. After pressing the damp sheets, students will learn how to part and dry them.
