An In-Studio Workshop!

 

Using your gelatin plate, acrylic paints and glossy magazine images, create graphic works of art or vibrant prints for collage or mixed media.  You will learn experimental techniques that you will be able to repeat at home after the workshop is over, including what kind of images work best for resist transfer prints; how to transfer an image to paper using a gelatin plate, as well as problem troubleshooting and next steps
 

Level: Beginner

Magazine Image Transfer Printing with Gel Plate; Jul 14; 6pm-9pm

    • Date & Time: Wednesday, July 14, 6-9pm, IN-STUDIO at Pyramid Atlantic
       
    • Instructor:  Clare Winslow
       
    • Materials: At registration, students will receive the full materials list (with any helpful links) to purchase supplies. The list includes:
      - High-contrast, glossy magazine pages—the more the merrier! (Vogue, National Geographic, catalogs, junk mail, etc.)
      - White cardstock, printer paper, or smooth printmaking paper
      - (optional) Vintage paper to print on, such as music sheets, maps, etc.
      - Gelatin plate, 6x6 or larger
      - One large or two small tubes high-quality, black acrylic paint such as Amsterdam/Liquitex brand (not heavy body) for the transfer color
      - At least 2–3 tubes of lighter color acrylics, any type (except Open) for the background colors
      - Baby wipes or sponge with spray bottle and dish soap
      - ((optional) Brayer(s) (suggest at least two for using multiple colors). Pyramid can provide brayers for use in-class.
