Interested in learning more about non-toxic etching techniques? David Mohallatee, an expert in the field, will show you how to use aluminum etching plates and a safer salt-based mordant to create beautiful tones and marks. In addition, you'll learn how to use rubber-based lift grounds and stop-outs, acrylic-based hard grounds, and aquatinting techniques to create a range of value. Instruction on drypoint, multi-liner tools, use of roulettes, and non-conventional tools will be covered early on, and dremel tools and alternative techniques will be emphasized in the latter part of the workshop. One great thing about the materials used in the workshop is that they can be easily purchased at hardware, grocery, or local general stores.
Prerequisite: Some etching experience is required.
