Explore the process and possibilities of printmaking with mordants on fabric utilizing silkscreens of your own imagery. Mordants allow plant matter to bond to fibers. Once mordants have been screened onto fabric, pieces will be immersed in a natural dye vat. By localizing the mordants using thickened pastes, natural dyes will directly color the areas in which the pastes are stamped or painted. Participants will create rich, one of a kind, multi-toned imagery.
Level: Intermediate—previous experience with screenprinting is helpful but not necessary.
