In this 3-part workshop, you will learn the reduction cut method for color woodblock printmaking. The reduction process involves gradual cutting of the block, with the image continually being taken away with each color. At each stage, the block is reprinted, and the ink is applied in layers until the images is complete. Topics covered will include how to hand-carve a woodblock, how to effectively mix and layer colored inks, and how to achieve accurate print registration. Some previous carving or printmaking experience is recommended.
