We've all been faced with a damaged book and the questions that result—is it worth fixing? If so, how? In this workshop, you will learn how to assess and explore simple repair options that can be tackled at home and with easy-to-source and relatively inexpensive tools and equipment. Is the spine attached/detached? Is the text block sewn/perfect binding? You'll learn how to look closer at the structure in order to determine what the damage is and whether there is a simple and time-effective solution. Paper repair, replacing a spine on a spineless book, and re-backing will be the primary topics. Please bring a book (or three!) for discussion and possible repair.
