THE INNATE THREAD by Kathryn Polk

AUGUST 3 - 25, 2018

Called a “virtuoso lithographer” by Juxtapoz Magazine, Polk’s work is a “wonderful mix of superb draftsmanship, childish play, and printing techniques.” Her seemingly simple subject matter, women going about daily life, is deeply connected to her southern upbringing with “traditional” values of the 1950s and 60s. Through precisely rendered visual narratives referencing the past to the present, she depicts personal, humorous, and sardonic memories and thoughts through the eyes of all the women in her bloodline; hence, “The Innate Thread.”

Opening Reception: August 3rd from 6pm-9pm
