MASHUP: Members’ Exhibition Addresses “Election Year”
Hyattsville, MD—Every vote counts, including the ones at this year’s annual members’ show. Pyramid Atlantic will feature over 60 works for its 2020 MashUp in an unjuried art exhibition addressing the theme “Election Year.” Works will be shown in the gallery and online during the lead-up to the 2020 Presidential Election and visitors (online and in-person) will have a chance to vote for their favorite work for a People’s Choice Award. While it won’t put them in the White House, the winner will receive an honorarium and bragging rights. In addition to the People’s Choice Award, Henry Thaggert will be reviewing the exhibition, selecting his favorite, for an Arts Patron Award. Thaggert is an attorney and well-known DC-area arts patron, collector, and curator.
MASHUP opens Saturday, September 26th and runs through November 8, 2020. The gallery is free and open to the public Wed – Thu 10 – 8 pm, Fri – Sat 10 – 6 pm, and Sunday 12 – 5pm. Masks are required for entry and we are limiting the number of visitors to comply with social distancing best practices. Pyramid Atlantic is located at 4318 Gallatin Street, Hyattsville Maryland 20781. The exhibition may also be viewed online at pyramidatlanticartcenter.org. More info online or by calling 301-608-9101.
“The MashUp is an opportunity to show work without gatekeepers, and we couldn't resist asking members for work that reflects this moment in time,” remarks Kate Taylor Davis, Executive Director. The resulting show will be a “mashup” of styles, mediums, and price points hung riotously throughout the gallery, salon-style.
