Kate Taylor DavisExecutive Director
Kate has worked for and with DC area arts organizations since 1999. She joined the staff of Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in January of 2017. Previously she was vice president of ARCH Development Corporation responsible for overseeing its arts projects such as Honfleur Gallery and Anacostia Arts Center, which Kate opened as its first Director. In her spare time she helps produce off-beat art events. Kate holds an M.A. in Arts Management from The American University and a B.A.
Gretchen SchermerhornArtistic Director
Gretchen is proud to have spent the last decade as artistic director of Pyramid Atlantic. She received her MFA in printmaking from Arizona State University, and has completed multiple artist residencies at Women's Studio Workshop, Columbia College Center for Book and Paper, and more. Her prints, installations and works on paper works have been exhibited in New York, Boston and Washington DC, and acquired by national and international collections.
Franc RosarioFacilities Manager
In his early career Francisco worked as a photographer for the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York and at the Associated Press as a freelancer. His work in printmaking involves translating his photographic portraits into woodblock prints. He is currently the Woodshop and Facilities Manager at Pyramid Atlantic.
Jen SheckelsEducation and Engagement Manager
Jen has lived and worked in Prince George’s County, MD most of her life. She received her BA in Studio Art from Messiah College in Grantham, PA and recently completed her M.F.A in illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design. Her personal studio work revolves around graphic design, type, and mixed media and pastel illustrations. This year, Jen will be working on capacity building projects and develop youth programming at Pyramid!
Grace DeWittCommunications + Gallery Associate
Grace is an interdisciplinary artist working with installation, video, printmaking, drawing, and photography. Outside of Pyramid, Grace supports Public Programs at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She received her B.A. in Studio Art and B.S. in Pre-Veterinary Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. In between frolicking about the studios, Grace handles Pyramid's marketing + social media, membership, event rentals, and exhibition prep.
Betsy MartinDesigner in Residence
Betsy Martin is an award-winning art director and designer currently serving as Senior Art Director for NOBODY, where she directs and designs social-first campaigns for large and small clients. While the majority of her time is spent on a computer, she often gets out from behind the screen for tactile projects. Recent highlights include a large-scale, multi-piece installation (HerStory) at Studio SoHy and a colorful new mural energizing the exterior at a local school.
Volunteer Artistic Associates
Artistic associates are term-limited volunteer personnel that manage the different studios and act as ambassadors of their discipline. These individuals are also frequent teaching artists and are paid contractors for their teaching time.

Lauren EmeritzLetterpress Associate
Lauren Emeritz loves letters but not spelling. When she found out graphic design existed she signed right up! After loving that for a while, she wanted to get off the computer and get her hands dirty. Letterpress combines all her favorite things: type (especially wood type), paper, ink, creativity / problem-solving and making things by hand. You can find her on the interweb at: abstractorange.com
James QuigleyLetterpress Associate
James Quigley has over 20 years' experience as a graphic designer, and holds an MFA in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He discovered his passion for letterpress printing at Pyramid Atlantic in 2012. James' interests include repurposing vintage advertising cuts, collecting stereoviews, and scouring eBay for obscure printing-related ephemera.
Jesse KirschLetterpress Associate
Jesse uses geometry, color, and bold typography in his work, and especially appreciates when clean, smart design is incorporated into the everyday. He enjoys finding ways to juxtapose the use of old analog technology with 21st century design in his letterpress shop — No Plan Press in Takoma Park. Jesse received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and now serves as the Senior Art Director at U.Group in Washington, DC. His work can be viewed @NoPlanPress
Aubrey DunnBookmaking Associate
Aubrey is a bookmaker and printer living and working in and around Baltimore and Washington, D.C. She graduated from MICA in 2015 and now loves being able to teach and pass on her love of books and print through Pyramid. She found her way into artists books after falling in love with the way that making a book was a balance between structure and the chaos of the creative process. Sarah MatthewsBookmaking Associate
Sarah Matthews is a 2016 MA Art & the Book graduate from the Corcoran College of Arts and Design, and holds an MBA with a Marketing Concentration and BS in Sociology from Bowie State University. Matthews’ work has been exhibited nationally and is part of the permanent collections of Yale’s Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library, GWU’s Gelman Library, University of Puget Sound, and Samford University. Matthews is a full-time artist, teacher, & YouTuber (SARAHBEME).
Amy CallnerPrintshop Associate
Amy Callner has a BFA in printmaking from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and has studied and made prints at Anchor Graphics in Chicago, the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative, and the Printmaking Workshop in New York. She's very happy to be here.
Madeline StrattonPrintshop Associate
Madeline A. Stratton is a multidisciplinary artist and educator living and working in Washington, DC. Lover of all things printmaking, she has worked as a prints cataloguer and completed advanced intaglio workshops at SVA in NY and Crown Point press in San Francisco. She recently completed her MFA from MICA. She joined Pyramid as a keyholder resident and is thrilled to stay on as an associate! Her work can be viewed at madelineastratton.com.
Adi SegalScreeprinting Associate
Adi started at Pyramid as a Keyholder Resident and is thrilled to stay on as a Screenprint Associate. She holds a BFA in printmaking and photography from SUNY Purchase, and a BA in art history and education from Brown University. When not making art or exploring DC playgrounds with her children, Adi is working on her Masters in Social Work degree.
Clare WinslowScreenprinting Associate
A native of Washington, D.C. and third-generation artist, Clare enjoys a variety of artistic endeavors including painting, printmaking and digital imaging. Clare’s current body of work is united by the theme of ecology. She has also been an ESL teacher and graphic designer and has lived in Japan.
Christy BallPapermaking Associate
Christy is a Corcoran College of Art + Design MA Art & the Book graduate. She works full time as a Design Specialist for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Growing up and living along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay has been her greatest inspiration. Christy’s love of the organic and natural world is always present in her art. She experiments with paper fibers, printmaking methods and likes to challenge the traditional book format.
Will BurkePapermaking Associate
Will Burke is a sculptor and printmaker working and living in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. area. He graduated from the College of Charleston with a BA in Studio Art. He works across many mediums and enjoys the papermaking process for its versatility in art making.
Ama SchulmanEvening Studio Manager
Ama Schulman is a D.C. native. She earned a BA from Brown University and an MFA from Art Center College of Design. Last year she quit her full time job and started a business called All Very Goods. The business is a way to combine her experiences in management, retail and design with her passion for making and creating.
Megan LivingstonEvening Studio Manager
Megan is an artist working in multiple media including printmaking, drawing, installation, and photography. Her work often focuses on architecture and how we interact with the spaces around us. She graduated with her BFA in Studio Art from Brigham Young University. She currently works as an art teacher at a local K-8 school where she loves to help her students develop an interest in contemporary artists and a love for creating.
