Youth Education

We offer unique educational programs in which professional artists bring the arts of papermaking, printmaking, and book arts to K-12 classrooms and other educational venues throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Programming can be developed for any age level and tailored to meet specific needs, curricula, and include connections to other subjects such as history, geography, science, and mathematics.

Program Selections:  We offer three types of programming for students and educators:  Online Learning opportunities, Train-the-Educator Professional Development Programs, and Group Classes taught at the Pyramid Atlantic location or at your school or community group location. Our group classes can be tailored to small group sizes and also be held outdoors, weather permitting.  Programming scheduled at our facility in Hyattsville includes a free tour of our community studios and gallery.  Coming soon:  Online Facility Tours!

Online Learning:

We host an assortment of live online demonstrations and workshops via the Zoom platform.  Program areas include, simple bookmaking techniques, Zine workshops, screenprinting demonstrations, monoprinting, and many types of relief printmaking.  Most workshops include project kits that can be mailed or picked up in advance of scheduled programs, so students can work alongside Pyramid instructors to produce a project during the Zoom presentation.

Train-the-Educator Professional Development:

If you are an instructor looking to increase your skills in the areas of book arts, printmaking, or papermaking, then you’ve come to the right place!  Pyramid Atlantic offers specialized training and curriculum in any of these areas. We are happy to schedule a 1:1 learning opportunity online or in-person with you at our Pyramid Atlantic facility. Our staff has placed strict Covid-19 safety procedures to keep you safe and healthy.

We offer a full range of youth workshops in papermaking, book arts, printmaking, screenprint, and letterpress online and at our location in Hyattsville for small groups that can be spread out 6-feet apart. Pyramid Atlantic can also come to you! If you are interested in having us teach at your school or location, let us know and we can put something together for you. We also offer limited, socially distanced group classes and outdoor teaching options, too.
